2017 National Florida Sea Base

Posted on Oct 20 2016 - 10:45pm
We have been accepted at Sea Base to participate in Sea Exploring  - see below for further information.  The anticipation is that we will be flying out over the weekend of August 12/13 and returning on or around August 20th.  This is a Scout High Adventure and, as such, only open to scouts that are 14 years or older and have completed the 8th grade. We have room for 20 participants (including adults).  Money is due quickly so we need to know ASAP who would like to participate.  A $100 deposit is required within 30 days and we may actually need to get half of the program - not trip - cost of  $425 in by that date.  The total cost of the trip is estimated to be between $1800 and $2200.  Please sign up on-line at bsatroop347.orgimmediately if you are interested.
Please check this link for the 2017 Sea Base Participant Guideline:     http://bsaseabase.org/filestore/seabase/pdf/HASB_2017_web.pdf
Sea Exploring Adventure The Florida Sea Base operates four tall ship sailing vessels more than 70 feet. This adventure is especially geared for larger crews of 18 to 20. During the weeklong odyssey, you will snorkel several reefs as you sail among the fabulous Florida Keys. Along the way, you will troll for mackerel, barracuda, and mahi-mahi, hoping to supplement the ship’s stores. Among the highlights of your adventure are sailing to a small archipelago of islands, fishing, snorkeling, and maybe even catching some lobster. If you’re expecting a “cruise” and someone serving your meals, this is not the adventure for you. It is a rugged extended voyage on a large vessel. Everyone pitches in with the sailing and cooking chores. You’ll do on-board navigation, star study, and lots of snorkeling and fishing—but you won’t be waited on. If you are up to the challenge, this is the adventure for you. This is a seven-night, eight-day adventure.
